iOS 7 has arrived. As announced last week, Apple on Wednesday released a major update of the operating system that runs on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

Among its marquee new features: A new, “flatter” look-and-feel, with revamped icons, fonts, and other visual elements (less skeuomorphism); upgrades to such stock apps as Safari, Calendar, Camera, Mail, and Messages; a new easy-to-access Control Center, from which you can adjust commonly used settings without digging into the Settings app itself; improved multitasking; iTunes Radio; and, of course, much, much more.

A new report about insights into how people use the iPad was released yesterday by tech firm, Onswipe.  

A few highlights from the report include:

The Twitter account associated with the fast-food chain Burger King was suspended after an apparent hacking that defaced the page with messages that the account had been sold to rival McDonald's.

The @BurgerKing account name was changed today to "McDonalds" and the Golden Arches' familiar logo was added to the page, as was a message that the account had been sold to McDonald's "because the whopper flopped."

The page has since been taken down, but images of the defacement are still visible on Web cache.

Because of his success at Microsoft, Bill Gates has given away more than $26 billion through his Foundation over the past eighteen years.

After five beta test versions, Apple today released iOS 6.1, the first major update to iOS 6 since September. The software, which went out this morning as an over-the-air update as well as a download through iTunes, brings a few new minor features, along with bug fixes.

Chief among the new features is 4G LTE support for more carriers, along with a feature that lets users purchase movie tickets from Fandango after finding showtimes using Siri. Apple also returned the option for iTunes Match subscribers to download individual songs from iCloud, something that was quietly removed in a previous software release.

On the privacy side, the update also adds an option to reset Apple's advertising identifier option, the "non-permanent, non-personal, device identifier" feature added as part of iOS 6.

Twitter recently unveiled a design change that lets you add some more personality to your Twitter profile page.  The change is similar to the cover photos introduced recently on Facebook.

Twitter has made the process very easy:

1. Log into Twitter, click on the gear icon at the top of the screen, and click on Settings.

The information was released months ago, but little attention has been paid to the warnings and articles that your computer may stop working on Monday, July 9.  Until now.  Various media outlets are finally reporting the story and it is taking many by surprise, especially because the story sounds so much like the "do this or your computer will implode" hoaxes that we have been trained to ignore.  Well, this one is not a hoax and it is completely possible that your computer will not be able to connect to the Internet on Monday.
