Will Your Computer Work on Monday?

The information was released months ago, but little attention has been paid to the warnings and articles that your computer may stop working on Monday, July 9.  Until now.  Various media outlets are finally reporting the story and it is taking many by surprise, especially because the story sounds so much like the "do this or your computer will implode" hoaxes that we have been trained to ignore.  Well, this one is not a hoax and it is completely possible that your computer will not be able to connect to the Internet on Monday.

Editing Comments on Facebook

Ever typed a comment on Facebook that you later regret?

Ever posted a typo-filled Facebook comment?

If so, you will like a new Facebook feature that will be rolling out soon - the ability to edit your comments.  Facebook currently provides the ability to edit a comment within a very short period of time after you post it, but after that window of time expires, your only option is to delete the comment and re-post it.  The new editing feature will allow you to edit any comments, regardless of how long ago they were posted.

OpenSpark CEO Julie Smith Honored

OpenSpark CEO Julie Smith was honored as the Board Member of the Year by the Greater Philadelphia chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) at the chapter's Annual Meeting today.  Julie has served on the board since 2010, first as Webmaster and then co-chair of the marketing committee.  On July 1, Julie will assume the role of president-elect for the chapter and remain as chair of the marketing committee.

Linkedin Passwords Compromised

Reports have been surfacing throughout the day that 6.5 million Linkedin passwords have been compromised and posted to a hacker website.  Linkedin posted a blog a short while ago that confirms "some of the passwords that were compromised correspond to LinkedIn accounts".  They are continuing to investigate, but report that Linkedin members whose passwords have been compromised will find that their password is no longer valid and will receive an email with directions on resetting the password.
